BakerHicks' Employees Finalists in WICE Awards
Four BakerHicks employees have been nominated as finalists in the acclaimed Women in Construction & Engineering (WICE) Awards.
The WICE Awards are a prestigious award scheme that recognises the most exemplary women in the construction industry across Europe.
Melissa Lee-Johnson is a finalist in the Best Woman Facilities Manager category, Abby Neal in the Best Young Woman Engineer category, Lauren Jones in the Best Woman Electrical and Mechanical Engineer and Geoff Cox in the Lifetime Achievement in Engineering Award, which recognises men whose contributions have revolutionised the engineering industry.
Melissa joined BakerHicks a year ago to lead a team of CAD Designers and Engineers delivering Managed Services to a leading defence contractor. She has successfully led a highly experienced team, building strong relationships and a culture of high-performance, resulting in an overall NET Promotor Score from the client which is consistently above 85% and a sustainable pipeline of work.
Abby is BakerHicks’ Civil and Structural Engineering representative at our Heathrow office. She has made a huge success of the role and acts as the principal external contact for a number of projects. Abby’s contributions to projects are valued by clients who frequently contact her directly with repeat business opportunities.
Lauren joined BakerHicks as a trainee straight out of school. From the outset her inquisitive mind and aptitude for challenging the norm have set her apart and she has developed into a highly competent junior Building Services Engineer. She invests her own time in helping the newer apprentices in the business as well as organising CPD training for the wider team.
Over the impressive forty years Geoff has been a part of the business he has played a central role in delivering some of our major projects, including assisting in the set up and development of our European offices. His high degree of technical knowledge and attention to detail has been instrumental in securing important new and repeat business. Overly generous with his time and unselfish in taking pride in others’ achievements, Geoff achieves more in a day than most do in a week. He is the backbone of BakerHicks.
Martin Lubieniecki, Managing Director of BakerHicks, says:
I’m enormously proud of these very well-deserved nominations. All four are perfect examples of the culture we promote within BakerHicks encouraging people to strive for the best. We invest in our people and it is great to see their achievements recognised by such a high profile awards scheme. We fully support the fantastic work the WICE Awards do in promoting the depth of female talent that exists within what is a traditionally male dominated industry.
The finalists will attend a judging day on 27 April in London, where they will be interviewed by a panel of highly-respected judges. The winners will then be announced at the awards dinner on 24 May at the Hilton Bankside, London.
