Long-standing BakerHicks Executive wins Lifetime Achievement Award

An engineer from BakerHicks, the specialist design and engineering business, with 40-years’ dedicated service to the company has won the Lifetime Achievement in Engineering Award at the prestigious Women in Construction & Engineering (WICE) Awards.

The award, which recognises men whose contributions have ‘revolutionised the engineering industry’, was picked up by Geoff Cox, Managing Director of the Built Environment at BakerHicks. He has played a central role in delivering a range of major projects for market-leading clients in the pharmaceutical, research, defence and rail industries, while also assisting in the set-up and development of the company’s European offices.

The 66-year-old, from Bishops Tachbrook in Warwickshire, has also mentored staff for many years taking them through from Graduate to Director level, with some describing him as ‘overly generous with his time and unselfish in taking pride in others’ achievements’.

Geoff says:

“It’s a real honour to have your work recognised in this way. I’ve been privileged to be involved in some fantastic projects over my time at BakerHicks and can genuinely say I love what I do.”

Three other BakerHicks employees were nominated as finalists in the WICE Awards, a scheme that recognises the most exemplary women in the construction industry across Europe. Melissa Lee-Johnson was a finalist in the Best Woman Facilities Manager category, Abby Neal in the Best Young Woman Engineer category, and Lauren Jones in the Best Woman Electrical and Mechanical Engineer.

Martin Lubieniecki, Managing Director of BakerHicks, says:

“I’m enormously proud of all four nominees, they are all perfect examples of the culture we promote within BakerHicks of encouraging and supporting people to strive for the best.
“We invest in our people and it is great to see their achievements recognised in such a high-profile awards scheme. My congratulations especially go to Geoff, who is one of the true backbones of this company. He achieves more in a day than many of us do in a week.”
